Ajbilou | Rosdorff started in 2016 as a collaboration between Yasmina Ajbilou and Lynn Kate Rosdorff. One of the basic principles of the philosophy behind the Ajbilou | Rosdorff label is a focus on zero waste fashion. The textile industry is one of the biggest polluters in the world, and they want to show that there are alternative ways to create fashion, without the extra costs for the environment. They believe they can create beautiful fashion that is also sustainable. They do this by reusing materials that otherwise would have been thrown away. In their designs, they are inspired by cultures around the world and combine these elements to create a coherent vision of world cultures and Western street style.
Fashion designer and creative director Yasmina Ajbilou studied fashion design at the Utrecht University of the Arts. The fashion designer emphasizes proportions in her work to question existing conventions, and she seeks anwers to social themes to make the viewer more aware of the world around us. She reflects on the aspects of the time which we live in.
Fabric designer and artist Lynn Kate Rosdorff graduated from University of fine Arts Maastricht and Utrecht University of the Arts. During her trip through India, she accidentally saw how the working conditions in the clothing factories are. This made a huge impression on her and she decided to do it differently from then on. Intuitively Lynn Kate Rosdorff tries to put a soul in the fabrics she is making. Something she thinks is missing in the fashion industry.
The duo combines art, humor, craftmanship, sustainability and love for color and detail to collections that are recognizable and unique for their style.
